Woven Linen Fabric
Vanessa loves the colour and texture of woven fabrics, the feel of individual spun yarns, and the handle of the fabric. She has learnt so much about designing the twelve woven fabrics in this Scandinavian Woven Collection. There’s a strong Nordic theme to these Scandinavian fabric pieces, from the Lapland Stripe which evokes the simple landscapes and rural life of the Sami people in Lapland (this is a double-sided fabric_, to the more contemporary feel of the Scandi Stripe, which she has designed in two bold colourways. Baltic Stripe is a stylish IKAT print, and Nordic Stripe introduces a warm chestnut brown she called 'Reindeer'. The Malmo features a new colourway, 'Carrot', as well as embroidery within its motif; the first in all her collections
Made from 100% Linen, with the Malmo being a Linen Union containing Organic cotton and Linen, this is a beautiful collection of timeless woven stripes. The pattern is integrated into the fabric through weaving rather than printing. The 100% linen yarns are dyed and then intricately woven together.

The Ikat part of the stripe (a characteristic of ikat fabrics is an apparent irregular "blurriness" to the design) is created here by screen printing the colour onto the warp (north to south) threads, and then the weft (west to east) is woven across them producing the irregular and famous Ikat shapes. These linens are hand loomed with incredible expertise and love.
We can use these fabrics to make curtains, blinds, quilts, cushions and lampshades through our Made to Measure service. If using on furniture, we suggest only using these fabrics for light upholstery only.
