Made to Measure Designer Cushions

These are four fabrics chosen directly from Vanessa as her favourites from the past few months.

Fine Foliage has a large pattern repeat, however, with the cream background makes for perfectly soft cushions for your lounge, bedroom, and kids rooms alike. The pattern is not perfectly horizontal, but horizontal nonetheless, so we would suggest opting for a rectangular cushion so that you can see as much of the design as possible on completion. Being that there are also four colours in this design, why not utilise one of them as finishing touches on your cushion for extra impact? Examples include Plain Dotty – Duck Egg, Plain Linen Union – Moss, Sunflower – Light Indigo, and Little Fern – Soft Cornflower. All of the aforementioned can be used as piping, flat borders, reverse fabric on double-sided cuhions, contrast pleats, and more!

When it comes to cushion designs, the Little Fern is the ideal fabric, with an approximate pattern repeat of just 6.4 cm. It works nicely not only as the primary fabric but also as the finishing edges.

May Blossom is perfect for cushions because it has the same repeat as the Little Fern above. Furthermore, the Pigeon colourway contains a hint of green that gives the fabric a softer, cozier feel rather than being a solid shade of grey, which could be quite cold. Thus, consider starting with the following greens when thinking about coordinating fabrics: Lettuce, Kale, Olive, and Field reen. Then again, anything goes with this fabric, so consider other pieces in the room you're retaining, like a painting or rug, and include a colour or colours from those into your cushion as a contrasting finish to create a unified design.
