Made to Measure Curtains

We have several butterfly and dragonfly printed fabrics. Butterflies exemplify the beauty of nature with their extraordinary symmetry, shape and pattern. They symbolize flight and freedom and also nature’s fragility.

Vanessa's timeless design, Cow Parsley, shows small simplistic butterflies sitting on the heads of the quintessential English wildflower Cow Parsley. Vanessa has a slight obsession with spots and stripes, which is ever evident on the delicate wings of British butterflies. Cow Parsley is a simple two coloured print, where the butterfly is in a contrasting colour; this helps to complete the decoration of a room by offering another colour option for the trims, leading edges, cushions, piping, and even upholstery. The most popular colourway in this design is the Duck Egg blue colour, with the butterfly in a lovely Cornflower blue.

Fern and Dragonfly is a lovely relaxed design with dragonflies dotted in between the scattered ferns. It has a large pattern repeat as well, making it an ideal option for curtains in a country setting.

Flora and Fauna also has butterflies resting on the branches of a flower tree. For most of them, they include a two colour print, where the butterfly wings and flower anthers are in contrasting colours, giving you the chance to include this contrast colour in other accents within your room, for example Mushroom and Raspberry, the Raspberry being the secondary colour.

Exquisite curtains with a variety of headings can be made for you through our Made to Measure service. Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms. If you order a half metre returnable sample you can drape them over your existing shades, or just in situ to where the shade will go, and see how it looks.

All our fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen, and Linen Union, making them suitable for lampshades, curtains, blinds, cushions, and upholstery. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days subject to availability. The same team, who takes your order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.

How to measure up for your curtains:

A video guide to help you measure up

Please remember that pattern repeats and fabric widths are automatically calculated if you order through our website. It is advisable to fit your pole or track before ordering your curtains. Your pole or track should ideally extend 30cms on each side of the window so when drawn back light is maximised and at least 15cms above the top of the window to block out as little light as possible again. Please use metric units only when measuring.

Poles:

WidthIf you have a pole, measure the distance between the finials. (A)

Finished Length for pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length using a curtain pole, we recommend allowing between 2cms and 5cms above the eyelet on the underside of the curtain ring, depending on how much of the pole and rings you wish to hide. From the measurement you choose above the eyelet, measure down to the bottom of the hem (see B & C) and that is your finished length measurement.

Finished length for cottage pleat (choice of either 5cm or 10cm depth)- these have to be made using a 3cm single position tape, which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, please provide us with the distance from the eyelet to the floor, and depending on your choice of depth, add 5cm or 10cm accordingly.

Finished length for flop over frill - these curtains have to be made with a 3cm single position tape which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor. Don't add any extra for the frill, we will do that.

Please note, we will add 25cm for hem allowance.

Tracks

Width - If you have a track, measure the total length of the track, including any overlap where the curtains meet in the middle.

Finished length: For pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length of your curtains using a track add 1cm above the track (to hide the track) down to the bottom of the hem. (D)*

Finished length for flop over frill curtains - these have to made with a one inch single position tape which makes the finished length non-adjustable.
