Made to Measure Curtains

Seaside Curtain Fabric

Vanessa's husband has designed this wonderful seaside fabric print which I have called 'By The Sea'.

Nicholas writes: "'By the Sea’ was inspired by my early childhood in Solva and recent visits to Mousehole and St Ives. I delight in coastal towns with their cosy harbours and brightly coloured cottages, nestling behind little pathways that snake between terraced gardens and climb up the hillside.”

This seaside fabric collection comes in three colours: Scree grey, Saffron yellow and Teal blue. The drawn line is a soft grey and the other colours create the houses and boats etc.

What can your seaside fabrics be used for?

These seaside fabrics can be used for all soft furnishings. This pictorial design can be made into wonderful curtains. There is so much to look at in the design, from boats, lighthouses, to dogs and people, as well as pretty cottages and the sea.

Children’s imaginations can be fired up and with the lovely detailed scenes, and with light behind the fabric, the seaside can come alive.

Seaside print curtain fabrics

This gorgeous 100% linen fabric with a seaside design, is strong enough to be used for the upholstery of footstools, chairs, and sofas. Perfect for coastal or seaside settings, By the Sea looks particularly good on headboards, scatter cushions, lampshades, blinds, and curtains.

What other patterns complement your seaside fabrics UK

There are many fabrics from other collections that go well or contrast well with the seaside fabric range. Plain Linen Unions in Saffron, Teal and Scree, complement and contrast with the Seaside pattern and add some stillness and calm to the interior scheme.

An example of combining some of these colours would be to upholster a chair in By the Sea - Teal, and then pop a cushion in Plain Saffron on the chair to give the room a warm splash of colour. Stripes in Saffron, particularly Stockholm Stripe and French Ticking, coordinate very well with the smaller pattern repeat on my Pretty Maids.

How to measure up for your curtains:

A video guide to help you measure up

Please remember that pattern repeats and fabric widths are automatically calculated if you order through our website. It is advisable to fit your pole or track before ordering your curtains. Your pole or track should ideally extend 30cms on each side of the window so when drawn back light is maximised and at least 15cms above the top of the window to block out as little light as possible again. Please use metric units only when measuring.

Poles:

WidthIf you have a pole, measure the distance between the finials. (A)

Finished Length for pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length using a curtain pole, we recommend allowing between 2cms and 5cms above the eyelet on the underside of the curtain ring, depending on how much of the pole and rings you wish to hide. From the measurement you choose above the eyelet, measure down to the bottom of the hem (see B & C) and that is your finished length measurement.

Finished length for cottage pleat (choice of either 5cm or 10cm depth)- these have to be made using a 3cm single position tape, which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, please provide us with the distance from the eyelet to the floor, and depending on your choice of depth, add 5cm or 10cm accordingly.

Finished length for flop over frill - these curtains have to be made with a 3cm single position tape which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor. Don't add any extra for the frill, we will do that.

Please note, we will add 25cm for hem allowance.

Tracks

Width - If you have a track, measure the total length of the track, including any overlap where the curtains meet in the middle.

Finished length: For pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length of your curtains using a track add 1cm above the track (to hide the track) down to the bottom of the hem. (D)*

Finished length for flop over frill curtains - these have to made with a one inch single position tape which makes the finished length non-adjustable. To get your finished length measurement, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor and don't add any extra for the frill as we will do this.
