Made to Measure Lampshades
Vanessa says: "I love pink lampshades! Mixing soft shades such as my Mallow and Lily Pink with the stronger shades of Damson and Sweet Pea is so delicate and indulgent. The colour of the moment is cheery, sophisticated, and pretty".
Sweet Pea is the brightest and most strident pink and makes up striking pink lampshades, in the designs Pretty Maids and Plain LInen Union.
Damson pink is a bluer softer tone and features as the mid-pink shade in so many of the designs: see Gypsy Garland, Cow Parsley and Fruit Garden; to name just a few. It makes the most beautifully delicate soft pink lampshades which is why it is Vanessa's favourite soft pink fabric.
Mallow is halfway to Lily Pink and looks stunning made up, as seen on the Little Fern, and Lattice Leaf.
Lily Pink is the softest prettiest pink in Branching Out, Lattice Leaf, Wild Fern, Herbaceous Border Detail, and Little Fern; the pink fabrics would suit being made into Made to Measure Lampshades for bedrooms, kitchens and playrooms.
Dusky Pink has a more vintage feel with more brown mixed in with it, see Up the Garden Path, and Pretty Maids.
How to decorate with pink fabrics
Think of pink as a neutral — it works with any decorating scheme, multiple shades of pink combine with crisp white create a warm and cosy feel in a bedroom. With the patterns used stay away from overtly childish themes, sticking instead to classic rose pink floral fabrics for a timeless look that can age with your child; see the Lazy Daisy design.
Colours that complement pink
A touch of green can ground a pink decorating scheme, such as the Kale in the Fruit Garden designs, and also Sepals and Petals. Bring the garden inside with blooms of pink. Mix with plenty of light wood tones and neutral linen fabrics. Try pink and green fabrics in more muted tones for a formal living room: Kale and Damson in fruit Garden, mix beautifully with wicker furniture,
Pinks also like to be paired with softer shades of grey, such as Scree and Clay in the For the Love of Rose, French Ticking and the large bird print, In Full Flight.
Dusky Pink is a vintage pink lampshade fabric: Pink here is really faded red; it’s pink with a past, like a colour that has softened over the years, which gives the room a mature, wise air. This is particularly good for a pink fabric for sitting room: see Pretty Maids, adnt he modern day Toile, For The Love of Rose, where I have mixed old Rose Pink with a gentle brown called Whippet.
