Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Shop made to measure Roman Blinds to get stylish luxury in an elegant and practical finish at home. Our luxury Roman Blinds are perfect for any room and work well on all windows, large or small. We offer UK mainland delivery to your door within eight weeks (lead times are subject to fabric availability).

You can get bespoke roman blinds, made to measure and hand finished with great care and attention to your exact size requirements.

Our Roman Blinds are custom made in the UK. Choose your Roman blinds from two available options for your perfect blind;

1) Roman Blinds with wooden batten and corded pull. Also provided will be either a wooden, brass or chrome acorn, along with two cleats (either chrome or brass, depending on the chosen acorn).

2) Made to Measure Roman Blinds fixed to a rotary chain track with the following bead options: Gun Metal, Chrome, Antique Bronze and Pewter.

Both options are available. However, we would advise, due to increased health and safety restrictions, that made to measure Roman Blinds over 1.3m in width and a drop/length of 1.5m or over are ordered on a rotary chain track. This is because the pressure required to pull up the larger blind tends to cause the safety 'break aways' to pop open as would a child pulling on the cords.

You can choose to have a contrasting border of fabric down two sides and along the bottom; we also offer a contrasting border to the bottom of the blind only. Please note that this border will be visible when the blind is up. The mechanisms on our quality designer Roman Blinds come with a 1 year guarantee.

How to Measure for Roman Blinds

We have created two templates that will help guide you through the measuring process. You can find detailed, visual instructions on how to measure your Roman Blinds in the video that follows. Here is our instruction leaflet which you can read, print, download and share.

Roman Blind mechanisms

The Roman Blinds can be made to fit either a metal Rotary Chain Track, or Wooden Batten. We cannot make a Roman Blind on wooden batten that exceeds 130cm in width, and 150cm in drop. This is because the pressure and weight of the fabric may cause the safety 'break aways' to pop open. Anything over these measurements would need to be on a rotary track.

Rotary Chain Track - Beaded chain options only

What control weights are best for Roman Blinds?

We have a selection of acorns and beaded chains available for Roman Blinds. The Acorns are only available for wooden battens, the options of which are as follows, below - left to right: Wooden, Chrome and Brass. These will come with two complementary cleats upon receipt of the blind/s, depending on your chosen control weight.

Beaded chains are only available for rotary track mechanisms. The chain options are (from top to bottom): Gun Metal, Pewter, Chrome and Antique Bronze. *Please note that the darker bead options may mark the reverse of lighter coloured fabrics.

What border options are available for Roman Blinds?

We can apply a bottom border, or an all-round border. Please note that the edging on an 'all round border' will be placed on the left, bottom and right hand side of your Roman Blind, not the top. The edging itself is approximately 5cm wide. Alternatively, you may not want a border at all which is fine, we offer this as standard. Borders are a great way to tie in existing room colours, add a contrasting colour/pattern to the main fabric (maybe bring the outside in and choose a colour from your garden?), or just used to frame a design, the choice is yours!

Do you provide pelmets for Roman Blinds outside a recess?

Yes, we do! Additionally, each bespoke Roman Blind pelmet is flawlessly pattern matched to the blind's main fabric for the ultimate finish. The batten and/or track are hidden by the returns on either side of the pelmet.

Roman Blind FAQs

Q. What minimum and maximum sizes are available for Roman Blinds?

The minimum width for a Roman Blind on rotary chain track is 50cm. The maximum is 240cm x 240cm drop.

Q. Where can I buy Roman blinds?

We provide a bespoke Made to Measure service where we can make high quality Roman Blinds, and have them delivered within 8 weeks of placing your order. You can buy your Roman Blinds direct through our website, over the phone, or via email.

Q. What fabric is best for Roman blinds?

With the exception of Velvets, all of our fabrics are perfectly suited for making Roman Blinds. Each material is a suitable weight for Roman blinds so it depends on your taste. The best way to get a good idea of our fabrics is to order small and large returnable samples from our website, or to visit our showroom in Cirencester.

Q. Are your Roman blinds ready-made?

All of our blinds are custom made unless they are being sold as ex-display, ready-made items from our showroom or from previous photo shoots, check out our sale curtains and blinds. All other Roman Blinds are made bespoke to your measurements hanging either from a wooden batten or rotary chain track.

Q.  What mechanism types are available for your Roman blinds?

Our blinds hang from either wooden battens, or rotary chain tracks.

The wooden batten is a square piece of timber that has been cut down to your specific width, with a 2.5cm approximate depth so it doesn’t protrude by much at all. The blind sits closer to the window on a batten and it can be the best choice for smaller windows in country homes, cottages, shepherd huts, etc. They are screwed directly into the wall or window surround. Blinds on battens can be made as wide as 130cm, and they have a cord with brass, chrome, or wooden acorns attached to the ends.

In comparison to battens, rotary chain tracks are more 'heavy duty', making them ideal for larger interlined blinds. The track is a superior option as it can withstand a lot of pressure and can support a heavy blind. They come with continuous beaded chains for ease of access.

Q. What is a dowel for Roman Blinds?

To help generate smooth, cascading folds, plastic rods called ‘dowels’ are inserted horizontally through pockets on the back of the blind. However, these are spaced closely together to produce the neat folds you see online. A weighted metal bar is also placed at the very bottom fold to make it fall easily when being handled.
