Made to Measure Quilts
Is plum a good colour for Quilts?
Proud and regal or soft and sweet, plum fabrics range from vibrant violet to pale lavender. Whether you blanket a whole room with the colour or just use it as an accent, this mystical hue is bound to make a statement.
Plum purple on Quilts offers a spirited mood. However, to add a more youthful feel, mix plum purple on Quilts with other colours, such as grey, green, pink, and white. Plum fabrics are a soft aubergine, a warm shade of purple, a homage to red and purple, with a touch of yellow. This Plum shade paired with a mossy green is common in French and shabby chic decors.
The Plum fabrics can be found in the Orchard and Botanical Collections. Vanessa has combined it with a complementary Kale Green in coordinating designs like Fruit Garden and May Blossom. You can buy plum fabrics to make cushions, curtains, blinds and more, or, we can make it all up for you as part of our Made to Measure service.
What colours go well with plum fabrics on Quilts?
Several shades of green, especially Kale and Olive, look great with plum. Kale green is as earthy as it gets! See Fruit Garden design and also May Blossom, which major on the Plum colour with an accent of Kale green. So why not combine these colours on your bespoke, hand-crafted Quilt? With a choice of up to three fabrics, you can create a beautiful, reversible Quilt that can be used all year round.
Any of our greens, from Sepals & Petals to Simple Ticking Detail in Kale, will contrast well with the Plum fabrics. Dusky Pink also goes very well as it picks up that purple tone. Why not add a texture to the room with Velvet in Dusky Pink? A great addition to the scheme.
A touch of Charcoal grey or Dove grey also coordinates well and grounds the colour scheme in a room; three colours always make the room look less contrived. So, try Plain Linen Union in Charcoal and Dove in particular, for bed valances or cushions.
You could bring these same colours in with a little pattern; try contemporary Sepals and Petals. Green Plain Linen Unions in Moss and Kale, are the perfect tones to upholster a chair in a Plum bedroom or sitting room. Moss green fabrics can be found in Wild Fern, and Little Fern designs. Perfect for leading edges or accessories to accompany the Plum purple.
